If Obama wins do you think Israel may feel emboldened to unilaterally take on Iran on its own?

No, I doubt it.

Sarkozy warned Iran that Israel could take its national security matters on its own hands. I was thinking that if Israelis think Obama will be less reliable than McCain would they go ahead and do it?

I think Israel is less likely to do something if the US won't support them.

I would actually come out in full support of Obama under one condition, that condition being that we stopped funding and do not recognize Israel

Wow.

Bump.  If no coalition is formed, when will the next elections be held?

Early next year, probably. But the chances of a new coalition are pretty small now.

Interesting.  Has anybody seen any polls recently?

Election will be Feb 10th

a recent poll

Kadima 29
Likud 28
Labor 11
Shas 11
Yisrael Beiteinu 9
New reeligous party (Mafdal + ichud leumi) 7
Agudat Israel 7
Meretz 6
Greens0-2
Gil 0-2
Chadash+ta'al+ ra'am 10

Interesting; is that an improvement for Likud?

A big one, they had all time loa of 12 seats in the outgoing Knesset because many of their leaders (Sharon, Olmart) moved to Kadima.

I meant in terms of the polls.

Oh, I see. They had 26 to 33 so this one is not that good.

Any idea why?

I guess with some old faces coming back this week to the party (Beny Begin, Dan Meridor) they might come better on the next poll.

Intersting.  Well, the election is coming soon, so we'll know.

I don't think Bibi will have an issue forming a new government.  He may need to make more concessions than he wanted to, but he'll be Prime Minister in the end.

Has he announced his official Cabinet yet?  I heard Natan Sharansky was going to be in it; is that accurate?

It is amusing how you love Israel yet you clearly don't follow Israeli news at all.

I read Haaretz daily for a while, but stopped.  I've now started up again, actually.

You certainly haven't read it in quite some time.

I know Tongue  I'm actually reading it now.

I'm Proud to be American, but if Obama decides to wage war on Israel i'll be torn.

Huh

He seems to be the anti-Stark.  He is completely paranoid that Obama is going to betray Israel, when it is idiotic to think so.

Unfortunately, Netanyahu supports a two state solution. Sad

He was probably pressured into it, dammit.

As I've said, it is in the best strategic interests of Israel for there to be a State of Palestine.

I don't think we will ever see a unified Arab State.  There are just too many despots currently in power for something like this to happen.

No.

How is it not in the best interests of Israel?  I've already explained why it is, now you explain why it isn't.
