Currently, we have sufficient security but not enough privacy.

Which often tends to be the case, because people vote their fears and it seems to to be in the human nature to fear chaos (in this case, lack of security) more than order (lack of privacy). People preferred Putin over Yeltsin, Hitler over the Weimar Republic etc., so it's not suprising that they prefer security over privacy.
