Sophisticated, smart, sensible.

He always makes me think of the politicians from the days when it was really a respected profession... He's a Thomas Jefferson, an Edmund Burke, a William Pitt the Younger, a William Wilberforce. He's a gem - intellectual but not one of the condescending intellectual elitists. Really, he's a gentleman.
