Your story here reminded me of the various very attractive girls I spoke to at uni (and never dated... heck, I even ended up getting on well with the boyfriends of some of them, what happens when you reach the "just friends" status without having the talk about it) and so from the very first page of this thread, I've been hoping that things would go great with her - sort of like in Lord of the Rings... Isildur had the chance to destroy the ring and failed, now the flaming torch has been passed to Frodo for him to bear the burden and complete the task. I've been hoping you'd be able to rectify my uni failures when it comes to picking up stunning girls.

Girls like confident guys. No girls ever paid me any attention until my fiancee, who was back in Canada at that time and waiting for her Skilled Worker's Visa to be approved. After that I had a few girls interested, and I had a reliable number of female friends who I could take out to events as "just friends" (and for once it was me giving the "just friends" talk). Once you're taken, girls suddenly get interested because you're more likely to be more confident and relaxed and not just trying to impress them and also because they want what they can't have (and since you're off the market...). So yeah, what the other guys say is pretty good advice.

Watch.. Phil is gonna end up with some girl that has close ties to the Philadelphia Democratic machine.

We've been over that my ex-girlfriend was a self proclaimed socialist, who frequently volunteered on Democratic campaigns, correct?

Personally, I think he's going to end up in about five years time marrying an absolute stunner and looking back and thinking "I can't believe how much things have changed and how good things are. Somebody pinch me, I've gotta be dreaming!"

Hope you know I'm not trying to be mean Phil.  I never even kissed a girl until I was 19.

19? Heck, I was 24 before I (got) kissed.
