Nothing wrong with people owning guns as long as it is restricted to sane and responsible people. A little background check before letting someone have a gun hurts no one and very possibly saves lives. But an outright ban on guns could also cost lives as people are unable to defend themselves. I really see this as more of a rural problem where it could easily take authorities up to 15 min to half an hour to respond to a call.
