I don't get to movies often, and was pleased that when the opportunity presented itself my family was willing to go with my first choice - Lincoln. The performances were excellent, but I particularly enjoyed how it made the oft despised underbelly of political dealing a necessary act to achieve a higher good.

Gravity 3D. I enjoyed the fact that an excellent film could be made in an hour and a half. It seems like a lot of directors are afraid to edit so much to make a tight story.

The Grand Budapest Hotel. I loved the dry ironic humor.
