Putting the psychiatric see your pastor talk aside for a little bit.  I am preparing for a weekend by myself at my parents' this weekend.  Mom is busy packing for their trip this weekend.  They leave tomorrow morning early and come back Monday afternoon since Monday is a holiday (Columbus Day).  I have an interview tomorrow morning at 10:30 in NW Oklahoma City.  I'll leave here at 9:30 and should be home by 12:00.  It's supposed to be a rainy day tomorrow with the remnants of Tropical Storm Simon, so I will likely stay in tomorrow evening.  I will head home to Tulsa Monday at Noon and then be back Thursday afternoon so we can head to New Mexico on Friday.  From there, it all depends on what happens with tomorrow's interview if I stay in Tulsa or come down and move in with Grandma.

Ftfy.  I don't do the religion, but from what I understand pastors would have experience with helping their pastees through life issues through incorporation of the faith.  It's reasonable piece of advice, Jeff.

As soon as I get my employment settled, I'll see the pastor of the church I attend.  I know he will give me Biblical advice and at no charge.

Yes!  And don't be shy about telling him about the outbursts and rapidly swinging outlooks.  He'll be able to help you on a level you identify with.

I'm home from the interview.  I feel pretty good about it, but that's not saying much.  I should find out by Tuesday.

What was it for?

Health Care Customer Service, just a hope of getting some money, not meant to be a career.

WHAT?!  Stick with the script, Jeff.  Braum's is not gonna help Granny's dia-beet-us.

Are customer service jobs still the only jobs in Oklahoma? I don't get why Bushie doesn't apply for a retail job. I get Wal Mart didn't call back about the assistant managers position but there are other things he could do to make some money...

Are there retail jobs in Oklahoma other than Wal-Mart?  It's a legitimate question.

In other interview news, I may, I repeat may, have a CAD interview in Tulsa pretty soon.  I got a call today right before I left for the interview and he was going to check with his client.  We'll see.

FOLLOW UP!  It's not bugging them.  Employers like to see that you really want the job.  In the doldrums of the modern economy, every position has multiple applicants.  You know this.  Who are they gonna hire?  The guy who shows initiative, or the one that says "Oh gee dern!  Didn't want to bother you!" after they get a rejection call?

I'm not really angry at Bushie for insinuating I and my family are all mentally ill. He was conditioned to think that way and he doesn't dare stray from how he was raised.

And I dod mean more of a psychologist, that's what I saw during my parents divorce. He didn't give me any medicine, but did talk to me about things for at least 30 minutes to an hour a session.

Psychologist = chat.

Psychiatrist = pills.

bushie any exercise in the plans this weekend?  any autocad?

Probably no exercise this weekend and I'm still not around my autocad to go over it.  That'll have to wait until Monday.

What's your excuse for not exercising?

Endless, endless, endless football.

Jeff, even though unemployment sucks and it's tempting to take the first thing that comes along, will you consider doing yourself a favor this time around and be discriminating based on the quality of prospects you have?

You've got a lot of interviews lined up, but if the first one is a call center and they (as they are prone to do) make an immediate offer, you don't have to take it.

I know you've been thinking about the next job as short term, and if that's the case, you can stillbe discriminating so that your financial impact is minimized. Taking a call center or other temp job in OKC, which necessitates a move, all while maintaining a place in Tulsa and (from what I gathered) not sub-leasing just doesn't make logical sense.

J-Mann, do you have answers for us about these call centers?  I never once thought of working at a "call center" before Update graced my life.  Are they just abundant out there in the plains?

I'm concerned that Bushie seems to be bombing all of these interviews.  2 more today, kaput.    I suspect they'd give a job to anyone who is breathing, yet Bushie's not getting anything.  Something's strange here.

I suspect his Tourette's has gotten worse, or he's developed some unbearable mannerisms.  I would imagine such a thing would be a great source of shame in OK, so I expect him to remain mum on any issue that could be affecting his employment outside of what's in the job description.  Think about it:

-old CADD man relieves him before 90 day trial is up, Bushie mentions some "clock watching" and "no going all in on focus"

-Uncle Bushie says NO to a weekend KC trip

-this coincides with some serious extra family time

... it all goes back to the idea that he should be talking to a doctor or priest about some of his issues so he can "go all in on focus" and not have so much pent up anger/worry/aggression.

Bushie, don't pursue jobs that pay above minimum wage until the quality of the work you produce is actually above minimum wage. The Pizza job is probably the best idea advanced that could be held down consistently and function above minimum wage (a friend of mine had it come down to ~$12-14/hr with tips).

I made more than that working at a pizza place my senior year of high school.  Some nights upwards of $20/hr.

Great news to wake up to:  I woke up to an email about an entry-level CAD drafter position in Oklahoma City.  I immediately called the lady who sent the email and now it looks like I may possibly have a phone interview while I'm on the road to New Mexico tomorrow and a live interview in OKC on Monday, which is perfect since I'll be getting back to my parents' on Sunday.  I could just stay the night with them and go to my interview before coming back home and getting ready for my job fairs Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jeff, please check out the link to the AutoCAD app I posted on the Facialbook thread.  What a great way to spend those long hours on the road to New Mexico!

Memphis and King, you know darn well I don't pig out like I used to.  There is no need to say I do.  Many times Mom has to tell me to eat, because many times I will go down for supper at 1700 only having had an extremely light lunch.  Other times I don't eat anything until 1400 or so.

Damn it, Bushie.  I understand it when you ignore me after I pester you about mangoes... but I literally took a few minutes out of my day to link you to an AutoCAD app right before you go on a long road trip.

I may have to download that app.  I'm curious how you use AutoCAD on such a small screen as a phone.

1. Use your tablet.

2. It's better than nothing.

3. Don't blow this interview by saying it'll take you hours to do a drawing.  Ever hear of the term "fake it till you make it."?

Let us know how good the Dairy Queen lunch is.

It's so sad, because in the Southwest you will undoubtedly drive by a bunch of cool little Mexican places that are so out of the way that you will only get a couple chances to ever eat there.  No, no, no the Clan Bushie will drive far and wide to find a McDonald's or something and get some real food!

What do you think the dynamic is like when Bushie, Mom, and Dad stop in at a restaurant to eat?  Does Mama Bushie scold Our Dear Friend as she would when he was a little tike to settle down?

We decided on a different Mexican restaurant so we drove.  We went to Papa Felipe's about 3-4 miles from the hotel.  It's the best Mexican food I've had in a long time.  I had the Navajo Taco (Indian taco).

How much did you pester Mom about the walking until we decided to drive?

Scratch Sandia.  I didn't bring a jacket because I rarely get cold, but Dad thinks since I just got over being sick that I would get so cold at 11,000 feet that I might get sick again which I can't afford since I'm job searching.

I'm so close to reporting for trolling, Bushie.

The family (apparently regularly) drives 16 hours round trip to stay somewhere for maybe a day and a half? It's clear that Bushie's bizarre eccentricities are genetic.

Meh. I've twice arrived in Chicago around 9AM, and then went home around 9:30-9:45PM the same day. Granted I took a bus each time.

I did Washington (5 hrs Chinatown bus both ways) from Philly for a day.  16 does seem excessive, especially on the regular.

To be truthful Grumps, he only works 40 hours a week and Mom runs most of the errands since she is retired.  They both take care of the dogs.

You are definitely AT LEAST a 20-hour-a-week project these days, bub.

I so don't get the leave at 6 AM so Dad can be rested thing.

You heartless prick. Papa has to drive all the way home. The man works 60 hours a week, takes care of the north 40, run every singe family errand, take care if two dogs, etc...and you wonder why he needs to rest?  I need to rest just typing what Papa does.
You misunderstand me. It's not that I'm suggesting that Papa shouldn't need rest. It's just that I would think he'd be better rested if he could sleep until a reasonable time Sunday morning. If they left around 9 AM, they could still be back in the trailer at 7 PM, which would give him plenty of time to rest for the evening. Instead, they're forcing the old man to get up before the chickens, just so he can be home at about 4 PM instead. Which would you rather do?

Foolish memphis.  They have to be back at 16:00 as to discuss the game plan for the week.
