I bet there is going to be an initiative to get it on the ballot? Or is that not possible?

First time gay marriage has come through the legislative process in the US, and overriding a veto at that.

And let us all take this opportunity to issue a hearty " you" to the dictatorial twat who made this override necessary with his Imperial Edict in the first place.

LOL, the viralness of the pro-gay activists against anyone who doesn't agree with them is really amazing. If most of them weren't such aholes, there would be more states with gay marriage by now.

Its Vermont, even if it finds its way to the ballot, it would go down in flames.  Douglas just lost re-election if he runs again because of this.

Douglas really had a sweet deal going. I'm disappointed that he would throw his political career away by vetoing this. I used to think he was fairly reasonable. Sad

You would rather him throw away personal values for political gain? Isn't that whats wrong with politics nowadays?

When his 'personal values' are at loggerheads with the American concept of freedom and liberty, he can burn in Hell.

It's funny how violent you are. You want to be for equal rights but want people who disagree with you to burn in Hell. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.

Did I ever call to restrict the marriage rights of homophobes, you greasy little worm? No. I oppose you vehemently, but only because your stupidity deserves opposition.

Me stupid? You're the one telling someone you never met to burn in Hell. Stay classy.

I don't think it will pass if placed on a ballot.

Wow, you gave some great detail on why you believe that. You've convinced me now.

Okay, how about this, its only up 5 points in a poll of adults. Turn that into a likely voters poll, it's probably a 2 gap, so it's all down to turnout. Who does a better job of turning out, conservatives or liberals?

Are 31% of adults in NY age 18-34 like the poll has? That seems a little high.

The 2008 exit polls in NY had it pretty close to 31%.  I couldn't find an exact 18-34 breakdown, but 18-29 was 22%, and 30-39 was 17%.   If the 30-39 breakout is split anywhere remotely evenly between the 30-34 group and the 35-39 group well your right at or near your 31%

Thanks. I wasn't sure.

50% say gay marriage should be banned nationwide.

If they pass it, he shouldn't veto it.

I hope Scalia and Thomas retire, so obama can appoint activist judges to replace them, so they can legalize gay marriage nationwide against the will of the people.

In many states it would be against the will of the people. Check out the gay marriage bans that passed in 2004.

Seriously, what could a theoretical referendum result look like? Without any special knowledge....I'd guess 55-45 YES.

I'd agree. But I'll say 54-46 just to be different. Smiley

Not gonna happen unless you plan on overturning constitutional amendments somehow.

I don't understand why the people would change their votes on essentially the same bill.
