     I oppose affirmative action as a matter of principle, though the severe ideological imbalance in academia is an ongoing problem.

Lol @ liberals supporting AA but not this.

     It really shows the ignorance of the values of the liberal society that has descended upon us. Diversity is valuable for the variety of ideas it brings to the table. There is no sense in supporting some diversity measures while opposing one that directly contributes to the diversity of ideas.

There is no sense in supporting some diversity measures while opposing one that directly contributes to the diversity of ideas.

Aren't you kinda contradicting yourself there?

     I oppose such measures because as a libertarian I am against artificially forcing what can and should happen organically through the removal of prejudicial barriers. With that said, I understand the theoretical and practical benefits of diversity to an institution. The overriding focus on demographic diversity (which is just one form) has obscured many of the more cogent arguments in favor of pursuing diverse composition.
