Besides the fact that Nelson Rockefeller died January 26, 1979, making it difficult for him to run for President in 1980, we will assume for the sake of this scenario that President Rockefeller was still going strong in 1980.

This election can be summed up in one word

CHAPPAQUIDDICK

wherein the philandering drunk left a young woman to die at the bottom of a lake while he saved himself.

End of story.

I know what Nelson Rockefeller died from.

That does not change in the least the fact that Edward Kennedy was a philandering drunk who was more interested in his own survival than trying to save the life of a young woman he had with him in his car.

Nelson Rockefeller may not have been the most morally upright person in public life, however, unlike Ted Kennedy, he never killed anyone.
