Kyle just invalidated his vote by voting in both booths...

President

[ X ] Senator PiT [PiT (The Physicist)]/Senator HappyWarrior [hannibal]
Regional Protection Party/Democratic Alliance

Mideast Senator

[ 1 ] KyleGordon2016
[ 2 ] Persepolis

Perhaps he has a reason. Gustaf also voted twice, but his vote will still count.

I think it's obvious from my maps as to whether or not I will count Gustaf's vote. I was hoping someone would catch that Sad
So, it won't be counted?

Alas, no.

I spoke to my mother & it is her expert legal opinion that it should be counted, but eh.

Shucks.

Her reasoning was that if Gustaf's story is correct, he could claim mistake of fact as a defense for having voted twice. Considering his reputation as an honest person, & that the observed facts are not inconsistent with his account of events, he should be given the benefit of the doubt that he made a legitimate error based on the information that he received suggesting that his first post did not go through.
You make an excellent point, Senator PiT. While I originall opposed Gustaf's vote counting, and messaged EarlAW about it, I think you are correct. The fact that the 2 posts were back to back shows something. It's not like he voted twice on purpose. Therefore, I rescind my request for his vote not to count, and ask EarlAW to count Gustaf's vote.

To answer afleitch's earlier question, it also seems that electoraljew2 & Gustaf could also have their votes challenged.
What did electoraljew2 do wrong for his vote to possibly not count? He registered on time and had enough posts...

This is ridiculous.  My vote counts, and I stand by that.  And just to prove it to you, here is a PM I got from the Secretary of Forum Affairs: (I apologize for saying earlier that I recieved one from Hashemite)

About the Elections for June, I registered to vote in the Northeast yesterday (June 11), and I've been a member since June 8. Am I qualified to vote in the June elections?

Thanks,
Barnes

Yes, I believe so.
I agree with you 100%, Barnes. Your vote should count. You had 25 posts in time, and you registered in the registration thread. If your vote is not counted and it affects the outcome, I'm sure there will be a lawsuit, and I think it will rule in your favor.

May I also point out that Forum Affairs Law is specific on how it is to be interpreted;

https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Forum_Affairs_Law#Voter_rolls

"The Secretary of Forum Affairs is required to keep an up-to-date list of each registered voter. To be a registered voter, a citizen must attain twenty-five posts and then post three pieces of information within the registration thread"

Hmmm, that could very well change my opinion on this matter. How much legal standing does this primer have? It seems to be a publicly edited piece, but it could be important in interpreting law.

That is probably up for discussion. But it is the SoFA's 'handbook' if you will and he could be seen to deviate from that if he rules against Forum Affairs Law.
Here's my thing:
I didn't know that. And I'm sure a lot of people didn't. No one informed Barnes that he had to register again. Dan specifically said "Get 25 and you're in". I think it's unfair to "punish" Barnes for this, when it is everyone's fault for not telling him he had to re-register.

It's easy to find. Look at the second to last post on the registration thread.

[quote author=Senator Marokai Blue link=topic=34355.msg2039564#msg2039564
Re-register when you have 25 posts. I don't like this new trend of brainless newbies registering when they have less than half the required number but no one questions the registration and they just let it go.

But no one told that to Barnes after he registered. I mean, why would he be looking in the "New Register" thread? It wasn't mentioned till just a few days ago, so he wouldn't of had time to be able to register and vote. It was our mistake for not telling him.

Here's where the situation get's sucky.
Let's say, all the controversial votes are counted invalid. Leif would become President, but here's my issue. More Atlasians wanted PiT to be President. That's a fact, if you look at the totals, adding all invalid booths. And both sides had several un-educated Atlasians voting for them, so that card shouldn't be played by either side.

They'd win George Bush style. The court deciding who actually should be president and not the people.

If Leif somehow comes out the winner of this we should take to the streets Iran style. Barnes, electoraljew, and Gustaf could lead the procession chanting "Where's my vote? Where's my vote?" I mean if people doesn't even respect the rules of democracy on internet forums about politic, what's the world coming to?

lol
Voting rules are so much more confusing on here. Like, over 5% of votes cast will be invalid. I'm sure in the 2008 election, it was a lot lower.
We must remember that this is all "Fantasy". We shouldn't get too seriously and legal about this.

You made your vote invalid by voting twice for no good reason. That's a big diffrence from registring, suppousebly 10 hours too late, or voting twice when your original post seems to disappear within the 20 minute margin. I don't even think anyone was arguing the fact that your vote is invalid. Too bad you did vote twice, otherwise PiT would still have ended up winning no matter what the court say.

But yes, it's like Florida. Of course stealing elections is only wrong when conservatives do it Wink

If Florida's vote count was inaccurate, why isn't there a big deal about it? I mean, liberals have most of the media on their side. If this was true, I'm sure CNN would be all over it.

That is what we do not know yet. It depends on what votes are valid, and which ones are not.

I think there will be a "political firestorm" no matter who wins. The JCP will complain that the voted should have been invalidated, while if Leif wins, RPP will complain that they should be valid, and so on...
*Sigh*

Do you understand the concept of electoral law?
Of course I understand. And I understand that some of the votes should be counted invalid. I just feel bad, especially for PiT, because more people wanted him to win. In a way, it's like the 2000 Presidential election. More people wanted Gore to win, but because of a few laws, he didn't.

Oh No! 4 months of this party again!
One man doesn't define a party. Though Democrats would have been saying the same thing you just did if McCain had beaten Obama...

Technically, it would be "Why are you...." as he is still currently President.

And I'm not sure if you should be too critical of President Bgwah, as you've just been active in the past few weeks. I would assume you just went along with what's popular.
Personally, I haven't been on here long enough to develop an opinion of him, so I can't really say.

HEY! I heard THE STUFF THAT HE SAID! CAN I NOT CRITIZICE SOMEONE WITHOUT BEING SPOKE TO LIKE A IDIOT!
Now there, I don't think you're an idiot. But I think you, just like me, shouldn't be criticizing the President, as we haven't been on for a long time, so we don't really know too well what he's done.

Pre-Tmth, it was a respectable region. Now it's become The Dirty South 2.0.
Oh really?
The Mideast has a very even balance between the DA and RPP. We, have an active governor, and an active, bi-partisan assembly, where Democrats actually lead Republicans.
Now, let's look at your region, the Pacific. An inactive Governor, no competitive elections, and an assembly, that, well, isn't awful, but it isn't great either.
Basically, you have no room to complain about the Mideast, as your region is in worse condition that ours.

There is no Democratic or Republican Party in Atlasia anymore, and if you're not aware, then you shouldn't be Senator.
I was referring to the colors of their avaters. Despite what you and Marokai might think, I'm not stupid.
And Marokai, instead of having other people say your thoughts by quoting, why don't you actually respond with your own words?

Yes, avatar colours are such an important part of Atlasian politics!
I was just referring to the political views of the Assembly. It's hilarious, and sad,  the ways some of you try to attack me.
And Antonio, I think it's a bit more balanced than other regions, like the Pacific. At least we don't have one party controlling everything. I mean, what was the vote between conservative DWTL and liberal Fritz? 17-3, or something like that, right?

Could you stop taking everything as a personal attack, damn it?

You made a comment which never applies to Atlasia, or atleast you made a comment which doesn't make much sense in the context of Atlasian politics. That's it. Period.
Oh
So making one comment that doesn't make sense means you shouldn't be a Senator? Thanks for the heads up.
