Oh and for what it's worth, Obama said:

"I think that the vice president, like every other candidate, makes their own decisions about these issues and they will have to figure out whether it makes sense for them."

I'm not big on conspiracies so maybe this was just an inadvertently incorrect statement, but, I think the thinking at this point is that he will launch into an actual campaign next week. But who knows. I find this whole thing to be bizarre.
