This is a forum that deals with politics.  O'Reilly's comments are common knowledge.  If you don't know about them google is your friend.  I'm usually more than happy to provide quotes and links but in this instance I don't think I'm going to waste my time.

This whole thread is based on people's opinions of what is an "absurd, ignorant, or bad" post.

No it isn't. This whole thread is based on a near-universal consensus of what makes a post "absurd, ignorant, or bad". For instance, repeatedly alleging that a Senator won an election because of the votes of felons with no basis in fact is absurd, ignorant, and bad. Assuming that party platforms from 150 years ago bear any relevance on today's political landscape is absurd, ignorant, and bad. Saying that Democrats have about a 55% chance of holding the Senate isn't absurd, ignorant, or bad. One is a reasonable prediction based on an intelligent analysis of the Senate races that could very well turn out to be a good prediction. The other two are absurd and bad conclusions based on willful ignorance of the facts.

TL;DR: stop posting in the deluge.

Maybe - and I know this is just ing crazy!!! - if people who are to the left of or at the least even with the Republican Party on EVERYTHING else (Wallace, the old Southern Democrats, Webb, etc.) support something like the Confederate flag or oppose something like civil rights ... We should stop referring to such stances as "conservative"?!

As you might see, Books are filled with words, and the purpose of words is to communicate with other people. Why are words necessary? Well, other people may have thoughts or knowledge that you don't have, and for various reasons it might be a good idea to share these thoughts.

I explain this because sadly instead of reading, listening, or looking at something someone has actually said, and then responding with your own thoughts, you have pulled your proverbial pants down in public and invented a fake, stupid, easy to attack delusion for you to then valiantly combat. For the purposes of this conversation, lets call this a "straw man."

I understand that by responding to real things that other people have actually said, you (you in particular) might be ill suited to disagreeing with them, because that prompt you to research the subject and think about it, which you didn't have to do when attacking your "straw man."
