In order of who I would say are Kerry?s best choices?

-Top Five-
John Edwards
Evan Bayh
Mark Warner
Bill Nelson
Mary Landrieu

-The ?Others?-
Dick Gephardt
Bill Richardson
Bob Graham

-?Dark Horses?-
Blanche Lincoln
Mike Easley
Ed Rendell
John Breaux

ben, funny you should mention mike easley.  i was just thinking about that possibilty today.  even though im a republican, i really like mike easley and i voted for him in 2000.

a lot of democrats dont like him because he is not a 'party man'.  in other words, he doesnt go out of his way to help fellow dems.

easley is looking strong (i made a thread about him in the governors forum)

i do think this will be easley's last political campaign.  i dont think he enjoys politics too much.  and as i said, the democratic establishment doesnt care for him at all.  two high profile dems (lt. gov and state treasure) openly considered a primary challenge to him this year.

edwards has taken jim hunt's place as the nc democrats 'golden boy'.

it's possible.  however, i doubt edwards has any aspirations of being governor.  if he ran for any office in 08 (other than the presidency), it would probably be the us senate seat currently held by elizabeth dole.

lt. governor beverly perdue is gearing up for a run for governor in 08 (she has been laying the groundwork for years)

state treasurer richard moore and sec of state elaine marshall are also likely democratic candidates in 08.
