People in California just happen to be more open-minded than they are in hick states. The real question is why do hick states have so few women representatives?

I was just explaining to Mister Hack over here that the prevalence of women politicians doesn't really have much to do with "open mindedness" and more to do with women being motivated to run for office. There is obviously something, besides the progressiveness of California, the motivates women to run for Congress.
