Melania Trump plagiarism/rickroll megathread

Unforgivable. Michelle is an amazing woman. To have her words stolen to benefit someone as deplorable as Donald Trump is unacceptable.

I actually watched Michelle's 2012 speech earlier this evening before this news broke out. She's so down to earth and amazing. She can't be replaced by someone who would plagiarize from her.

Pretty awful that everyone is dancing around criticizing Melania directly.

Well, do we know if Melania actually wrote the speech?

She said she did and it took her 5-6 weeks.

Also reprehensible was when she rickroll'd us during her speech.

Seriously, just take the L. This is plagiarism, whether a staffer or a speech writer or Melania herself is at fault, it's still plagiarism.

"Included fragments that reflected her own thinking" is a pretty soft way of admitting to plagiarism.

Some RNC guy just quoted My Little Pony to prove that Melania didn't plagiarize but the quote wasn't even similar.

I don't understand why they dont just bring out some no name low level staffer and fire him. While Trump doesn't like to admit mistakes they fired Roger Stone and Cory Lewendowsky. In fact Trump could make it part of his brand ("you're fired") to show he can be quick and decisive when there is a problem. They can get Melania out to Jimmy Fallon and turn it into a joke like have her read the gettysburg address or something. There are ways to fix this.  What they are doing isn't helping.

Maybe there really is something there and they don't want it getting out. Perhaps intentional? Who knows.

Also, didn't Palin go on late night in 2008 and joke around about her gaffes at some point? I think I remember her on Conan (which I think was the Tonight Show back then)?

Sources are now saying that Trump is planning to publicly apologize for the plagiarism and has fired the person who created the speech.

He fired his wife? Heartless but it falls into the realm of what we've come to expect from him.

This random staffer who resigned because of this basically said it was Melania that fed her Michelle's lines, so Melania knew she was plagiarizing. Lying fraud family.

Wait, isn't it illegal for corporate resources (Trump Organization employees like McIver) in campaigns?

Mhmm. The FEC might get involved now, and it might lead to some (un)expected discoveries.
