Is Pence's brand of Republicanism really a good fit for this district?

Better than Trump.

Ossoff has the benefit of taking a large chunk of those new 5500+ voters (obviously) and there's no reason to believe his first round voters would dump him, whereas Handel has like 5 candidates worth of voters to consolidate and has very little room for error. And that's without taking into account what's going on in DC with Comey and health care.

I mean, I'm not very into Sanders but what has he even done that would warrant the people who say they like Sanders to get crapped on?

Handel and co are going to have a field day with ads from the debate. Best quote I saw on twitter: "Ossoff: 'There's far to much money in politics.'"  - the 20 million dollar candidate. But muh dark money!

Attacking a Democrat for saying there's too much money in politics? You must've thought the Han Solo ad was brilliant.

Well, you can bet that Republicans are not going to run Handel against Ossoff again next year if he wins the runoff.

Which is probably good for Ossoff as IIRC the other primary candidates were particularly whackadoodle extreme, and Handel was considered the "moderate electable" one.

Whoever thought Handel was electable clearly knew nothing about her.

Just remember, Trump wasn't supposed to be electable either.

Ok. And Handel is a true and tested loser.

Theyve made it the most expensive house election ever... Do you see a trend?

You need to play the game to beat the game. Why do you think so many anti-government conservatives run for office? Not because they love it, that's for sure.

(Although it's usually a different story once they're in.)

It probably will have more implications outside of the district, yeah, but in a close race, everything matters.

Listening to the debate on WABE, and mostly the same stuff but one new point from Ossoff so far.  He said explicitly he does not favor any increase in income tax rates.

For all tax brackets?

Mm, it's what I'd expect for the district but oh well.

Looks like EV turnout is returning to more normal levels but still ridiculously high for a special.

~33% approval for Trump and ~25% approval for the AHCA in a suburban Atlanta district? Dunno if I buy that completely but if the numbers are anywhere near that next fall nationwide, Republicans are going to have a rough midterm.

I find it somewhat odd that such a wealthy district like this has such an unfavorable view of the health act.

Polls a few years ago found the strongest opposition to the aca in suburban districts.

Maybe this suburb isn't as fiscally conservative as it first appeared

Could be the country is developing groupthink against the bill, regardless of income level.

Obvious mound of salt, but:

Ryan Grim @ryangrim
Outside House GOP group tells me their internal poll over the weekend has Handel down 9 to Ossoff. That'd be the biggest gap so far. #GA06

DCCC memo vs. leaked GOP poll. Who wins?

Is it again their strategy of lowering expectations?

If it is then they're not doing a good job spreading it around so everyone sees it.

In less time than this stupid election has been dragging on, the UK Labour party with less money than Ossoff spent went from 20 points behind to losing by 2 and now ahead.

Cool. We'll soon live in a world where both Prime Minister May and Representative Ossoff are a thing.

Is this damn thing still going on?

The polls close in 45 and a half hours.

And not a minute too soon.

And I say that as an Unapologetic political Junkie.

It's been a long runoff. There was no reason for it to be two months.
