Trone already spent 41.6 million. Almost all of this is his own money. It's crazy to spend so much money just in the primary in a deep blue state. And yet he may well lose the primary.  

On the R side, perennial candidate Robin Ficker spent 4m of his own money with 0 chance of winning.
