It seems to me that most early votes are from Acadiana which is why Angelle performs so well.

At AOS we've called a runoff spot for Vitter.

Yep, only Orleans remains and Vitter is crushing it there.

So Miles, do you think that these results show that the latest scandals have damaged Vitter?

I'd say so. If Vitter cleared 25% easily, that would have been a much worse sign for Edwards going into the runoff.

I guess it remains to be seen if Angelle and Dardenne endorse Vitter or simply decide to sit on their hands for that race.

The ad wars are getting into full swing:

Edwards has a positive spot out talking about integrity. "David Vitter wouldn't last a day at West Point" is a great line.

The anti-Vitter Gumbo PAC has a good ad using Angelle and Dardenne against Vitter.

Ouch! I knew that there was no love lost between Vitter and Angelle or Dardenne but not even Democrats would attack the former so harshly.
I'll make a wild guess and say than both of them will not endorse Vitter.

What's up with that lone precinct Angelle carried at the south part of Jefferson parish?

^ That's Grand Isle. It only has about 1300 people and is relatively isolated, as the area between it and the rest of the parish is swamp/water. Its a tourist destination, but there are some blue-collar workers there in the fishing/oil industry. The only way you can access it by land is via Lafourche Parish (which voted for Angelle, too).

So they voted for their fellow Acadian/Cajun I suppose.

One difference with Kentucky is that despite their misgivings the entire Republican establishment backed Bevin.
Vitter has no such luxury in Louisiana. Not only Dardenne endorsed Edwards but the state senate Republican caucus declined to endorse him.

Wow! Dardenne didn't just endorse Edwards.
He ripped apart both Jindal and Vitter.

"The Republican brand has been damaged by the failed leadership of Bobby Jindal during this last term. David Vitter's governorship will further damage that brand as I and others have pointed out during the campaign. I cannot and will not sit idly by and refuse to speak truth to power."

Wow! That was... memorable.

Good to see though that Edwards is willing to play hardball.

That "prostitutes above patriots" ad is only going to backfire on Edwards's campaign, unfortunately.

Because it's false?

Hey Miles, has there been any reaction to the "prostitutes over patriots" ad?

Edwards skipped a social values forum organized by the the Lousiana's Family Forum to host a meet-and-greet at a raunchy club. So much for "Louisiana Family Values". Roll Eyes

This just goes to show the hypocrisy that Vitter has had to deal with in this race. This should help his campaign though, and I suspect he'll make it over the finish line by a comfortable margin in the end.

http://www.redstate.com/2015/11/13/john-bel-edwards-skipped-a-family-forum-for-this/

Yeah, not to mention that he's not even pro-life.

How terrible!!! Hopefully the good people of Louisiana have the sense to elect their champion, Senator David Vitter, instead of this horrifying individual.

I will be very to happy when you're sent to the forum graveyard to meet krazey and the other unfunny trolls that once littered this forum with posts similar to yours.

^ From what I'm getting from my friends working on the campaign, think it was more a reaction to the Kentucky result than anything else. The Edwards team knows that they can't be comfortable unless they did everything possible to make sure Vitter was (electorally) as dead as possible - the Kentucky polling collapse affirmed that.

Vitter wasn't really pressed much (no pun intended) on the scandal in 2010. When it came up, it was usually more of a side note. As the Democrats are trying to make this a referendum on Vitter, looks like they're trying to get more mileage out of Vitter's personal issues this time.

Yeah, definitely better to be safe than sorry.

Everything is going right for Vitter in the final weeks. He's surging among whites, his ads have worked while Edwards' have backfired, and he's being helped immensely by the Syrian refugee crisis. I look forward to his decisive victory this weekend!!!

Go make some love to yourself troll.

John Kennedy (R) will probably run for Senate and win.

The primary between Kennedy and Angelle will be pretty rough.

Fleming and Boustany will run too.
That will be a fun race.
