I wonder what Luke, Leia, and Han will be up to in this new movie.

I think that Luke might be in exile, something like old Obi-Wan from Ep. 4. Or he could be head of the new Jedi Council, like Mace Windu.
Leia might be the Supreme Chancellor.
Han might be a Republic General.

I read that George Lucas gave Disney his story treatment for the sequel trilogy but they aren't using it? I wonder if it'll ever get released.

You mean "Jar Jar's Big Adventure" ?

I think I have to drop out of school. There's no way I can concentrate on trivial things such as class in wake of something as ground-breaking as this!!!!!!!!!! So, why do they have stormtroopers? Obviously, there is some neo-reactionary "Force One" cult of Vader seeking to restore Order to the Galaxy, reminiscent of royalists during the French Revolution. Absolutely can't stand this dudes. It's too big.

I read that the inspiration is coming from the idea of Nazi's hiding out in South America in the 1970s. So basically some of the Empire's soldiers have been hiding, but in the 30 years since they have also turned into a cult that is determined to resurrect the Empire Smiley

I wish I could have bought a ticket to the 7 movie marathon that is going on, but instead I bought my ticket for the 10:15 pm showing on Dec 17th in RPX, IMAX 3D

That's too much sitting down. What I'm going to do is watch the films in the order of the story with one film per day, and on the last day watch The Force Awakens Smiley

I really, really liked it, but I think I second viewing is necessary.

I agree with Hagrid in that little was explained, but I didn't feel there needed to be that much to say. There is a New Republic, and the First Order is a new threat to it. I wish we had a Senate scene with Chancellor Lando Calrissian to make a call-to-arms though.

TFA's battles were basically with a small force called the Resistance, but I'm looking forward to some epic battles between the Republic and the First Order in the next one Smiley

So I just bought the book "Star Wars: The Force Awakens - The Visual Dictionary," and I could see a few characters that didn't make the cut. One of whom was some type of envoy who was addressing the Senate on behalf of General Leia, to warn them about the First Order. (I really wish this scene had been included). Apparently the New Republic signed a peace treaty with the remnants of the Empire, and a cold war existed for a period of time. But after so many years, the Republic has believed that the Empire has withered away to such a point that the Republic has demilitarized itself. The First Order is an organization that has secretly built up its military in violation of the peace treaty. The Resistance is a private army led by General Leia to fight against the First Order.

Also, the Senate's location in rotated periodically among different planets now. During the film, it is on Hosnian Prime, and that is what gets destroyed. So when it is said "we will destroy the Senate" it is somewhat confusing because we are used to the Senate being on Coruscant, and now it's on a different planet.
