Add Muslim Americans to the list of people conservatives hate

Hilarious.  It's "hate" when we disagree with Islam, but liberals NEVER rant about Christians. Totally.

I love thread titles like this one. They remind me how small-minded some¹ liberals can be with their generalizations.

Islamophobia is not a minority viewpoint in the US, it's the norm. In a few liberal cosmopolitan areas, anti-Muslim sentiment is rare but elsewhere it's common.

A larger percentage of conservatives than liberals may be bigoted towards Muslim Americans, but that doesn't mean "conservatives hate Muslims" like it's a prerequisite for anyone self-identifying as a conservative.

And if I found some freak incident about a racist Democrat and posted a thread called "liberals hate black people," I have a feeling it wouldn't go down with nearly as warm a welcome as this thread has. So I'm gonna call it out whether I embarrass myself or not.

Sadly Hagrid, this isn't a "freak individual incident". It is a well-documented report regarding repeated examples of overt prejudice and mistrust exhibited at both the TX GOP convention and a Heritage Foundation summit. These are about as mainstream conservative (even TX ) as one can get.

It doesn't mean "all" conservatives are Islamophobic, but I didn't get that vibe from this thread. What it does demonstrate, quite sadly, is rampant unrestrained anti-Muslim bigotry is accepted and even welcome at all levels of mainstream conservatism.

I'm chagrinned and disgusted. I wish these folks could at least realize even if they don't care about being mean, it's dumb politics.

If you don't like being associated with islamophobic bigotry, then maybe you should leave the islamophobic party.

And what conservative party are we supposed to join? Just because Allen West is an islamophobe doesn't make his party islamophobic, just like Strauss-Kahn being a rapist does not make the French Socialist Party remotely pro-rape. What a ridiculous claim.

But as these articles demonstrate, it goes far beyond Allen West and other fringe actors.

It is imperative reasonable conservatives and Republicans fight such foolishness from the inside, not coddle it out of political expediency.

They were once one of the most Republican friendly of minority groups. Funny how things change.

It's sad, of course. But you wonder how it could have lasted past 2001.

Of course, I don't hate Muslims either, nor do I think if most of you were to go outside and ask Republicans if they hated Muslims you'd get an affirmative answer, but don't let that stop you.

Simfan, I too doubt the multitude of Heritage Foundation panelests and good TX GOP conventioneers who shamelessly acted like prejudiced f%$"heads would admit they 'hatee Muslims' if asked. But neither would, in all seriousness, a majority of Klansmen either (they simply 'love the white race'). So that realy doesn't change $hit about what happened hear.

Quit apologizing for a$$holes just because they share our desire not to see Hillary as president.
