I can understand criticism of Inks's moderation style, but I have no idea why you think that particular list of grievances owes to him.  You think Inks is the most influential moderator?  Lol.

Yep. Exactly.

We both know that the unbannings of Einzige and Libertas, to use the most obvious examples, would never have happened without the mods inexplicably voting to recommend them to Nym. It's become  clear that a gaggle of mods - as far as I can work out the main offenders are Inks, Ernest and Badger, but it's presumably more - are controlling moderation policy in a shockingly boneheaded way.

I don't take things like this personally, nor do I here, but I'm genuinely curious how the hell I came into this mix? I'm one of the most liberal mods in the cave in terms of favoring free discourse and using edits/infractions with great restraint.

Or do you mean because I support allowing Libertas back (probationarily at least)? If you might recall, I was among the greatest opponents of Libertas back in the day, and one of the greatest celebrators of his banning then. I just believe that when people are genuinely contrite and appear to have changed, they often deserve a second chance after serving their sentence. If you think that's "shockingly boneheaded", well, more power to you I guess.

Someone please clarify the situation:

This, along with Simfan's confusion, sums the situation up.

The partes involved in this kerfluffle need to all chillax for a few days.

5. Inks makes up an "Arkansas IP address" and blackmails Simfan into giving him chat logs.

So what was Simfan being "blackmailed" with? Inks warns he'll bring up what he "knows" about Simfan supposedly being JerryArkansas or something. Simfan knows this is (presumably) untrue. Why doesn't he tell Inks to pound salt and scram if he doesn't want to help. Doesn't a blackmailee by definition need something to have helld against them, which in this case appears missing? Huh

Because I don't know what information he's come up with so for all I know he could spin some tale, as that is what he was (is?) doing. I mean at that point I was really just panicking. Once things simmered down I got was able to think things through and was pretty disappointed in what I saw. But I mean, surely it fits the definition of "an act, often a crime, involving unjustified threats to make a gain or cause loss to another unless a demand is met".

Point taken.
