"I don't want anybody to get hurt.  Just do as I say, and nobody's gonna get hurt."

So, he's basically saying that he cares more about his own political legacy and ambitions than the lives of Americans.  If any other president even suggested such a thing, the media would air wall-to-wall coverage of the comments until he or she retracted them, and/or resigned from office.

But we've already come to expect nothing less than lowness out of him.

New Q poll shows 21/56 approval for the current version of the AHCA: https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2457

Lots more in the poll, including Trump's proposed tax plan.

If this bill passes, would it be the most unpopular major piece of legislation in modern history? I still have trouble believing Republicans would dare.

I question that. Heller is really the only Bonafide vulnerable Republican in the Senate right now. Flake might be if things start approaching a reverse 2010 or 2014 tsunami. Beyond that the Republicans up next year vote for the sick to be processed into Soylent Green and still win a healthy reelection.

In the house, yes there will be some casualties in the remaining few swing districts, but gerrymandering is so pervasive that Republicans supporting this widely unpopular measure will still carry a majority of seats next year oh, I'll be at by A reduced margin
