This seems non-ambiguous. Runoffs are clearly defined as being applicable to the 30 days or less deadline requirement. I don't get why Georgia would even waste money on defending that.

Oh. Nevermind.

The argument which the state regularly makes is that a runoff is not a separate election but an "extension" of a general election. Bit of strained logic, but there you are.

A federal judge has ordered that voter registration be reopened until May 21.

It's been shown quite frequently that Ossoff only got to his near-majority through Republican support estimated at around 15%, so there is obviously a good deal of cross-over support. You simply cannot reach a figure like that in this district without some one other than the Democrats voting for you.

Most of the attacks on Ossoff have backfired horribly.

That pathetic Star Wars thing has become a marketing asset for him now!

Republicans are getting so desperate here that they are litterely throwing sh**t at the wall and seeing if it sticks.

Case in point. I mean, this is really kind of sad.

My favorite thing about Karen Handel is when you explain who she is to people and you mention the Susan G. Komen thing and the response is usually "Oh wait that was her? F**k that lady."

What is this story?

When Handel was head of Susan G. Koman, she forced through a plan to divest the charity from any cooperation with Planned Parenthood, which was incredibly unpopular; she was finally forced out by the board of Koman.

Let's get back on track, please. This has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

We need to establish some kind of geo-block for non-Georgia posters.

Please take these inane arguments elsewhere.

Dumb question, but are they using paper ballots, or software? Is there any chance it could actually be hacked?

We use electronic voting machines.  There is no receipt or paper trail.

The only exception being voters who cast mail-in absentee ballots or a provisional/challenged ballot. I usually vote by mail simply because I enjoy having a physical ballot to hold.

What's funny is that Georgia was extremely innovative after the 2000 debacle and became one of the first states in the country to adopt uniform voting standards with electronic machines for every county.

However, we're still using those machines and much of the software some fifteen years later, so the system is...clunky, you could say.

Welp, looks like it's time to start booting posters again from here. The level of #hottakes and #analysis is becoming particularly noxious

For all science geeks fans:  https://xkcd.com/1852/

It makes as much sense as some of the other GA-6 analysis we've seen. Smiley
