It would depend on the GOP nominee.
The republican would win unless they nominate an Freedom Caucus radical (then, it would be a toss-up)

Absolutely atrocious. Would lose previously blue places like Lackawanna County, PA by 25 points and destroy the Dems suburban coalition.

Trade the suburban bourgeois vote in exchange for the working class who have swung to the Republicans. If the Democrats want to be serious about winning elections they should ditch neoliberalism and fully adopt to being a populist left party. The coalition would not be so fractured with having right-leaning voters in the same party as progressives.

The only way to do that would be moderate on social issues and pray GOP goes pro free trade again. There is no way to fully appease the insurgent left types without losing elections in the USA.
Dems should better try to help unionize the South (specially GA and NC) and try to have their case on farms again.
Also, try to win Macomb County again, and maybe other WC suburbs.
