Alright, now that the gang's all here, let's start brainstorming on some ideas.

What if each member were tasked with speaking to new members of their respective parties and acquainting them with the game?

Sounds reasonable (even if Happy is getting a privileged position to take care on "all others" Wink)

Owing to the small number of independents, it's about fair. Tongue

Although, there is another thing I do not think this committee should be doing - we shouldn't barrage people with PMs perse. Just a quick greet, since sometimes less can be more.

Absolutely. I propose we just send them a brief PM saying something along the lines of

"Hi, I'm (x)

Welcome to Atlasia! We're glad you've decide to join this wonderful nation. I'm an appointee to the President's welcoming committee, so I'm here to guide you and field any questions that you might have!

Keep in touch,

(x)"

Hmm. I think that's a bit too enthusiastic. What does the rest of the committee think?

I agree with both President and Vice President here. It's more a friendly introduction, rather than "HEEEEEEEY, IT'S SO AWESOME WE HAVE YOU HERE!"

^^^^^

This is what I was getting at.

What about something more along the lines of

"Welcome to Atlasia!

I'm a member of (insert new registree's party here) aswell. Do you have any questions about Atlasia?"

I think there's so many aspects of the game, people won't really know what to ask. I've welcomed people to the game before, and after I ask if they have any questions, I usually get no reply. That's why I think we should just up-front provide them with the information.

Well, in all honesty, I'm not so sure every new registree is interested in the nitty gritty of this game, and perhaps just wants to vote. Massive PM's can be tl-dr for new registrees and I certainly don't want us to be warding people off.

I think I've got an improvement to what I put before.

How's this?

"Welcome to Atlasia! I'm glad you've decided to join our nation! Atlasia has many rules and regulations, but don't fret, these rules are simple. Firstly, Atlasia is a Republic. We have our own elections that vary based on the region you live in. (which you can find out which region you live in by clicking on the "Wiki" tab on the upper part of the page. This will direct you to Atlasia's own "website" which has news posted as well as who your elected officials are and plenty of other information about our nation.) There is a "child board" within the Atlas Fantasy Elections board in which elections are held as well as regional votes on amendments to your region's Constitution. Bear in mind, you can only vote in your region's elections. If there is an election for President, At-Large Senate or any other Federal office, everyone is invited to vote. As I mentioned earlier, each region has it's own Constitution, but Atlasia has it's own Constitution as a nation, which you can also find on the wiki. Now that we've covered most of the basics, it's time to get down to the personal. I see you registered with (X) party. (for the sake of time, I'll substitute the Populares for 'X'), I too am a member of the Populares, so if you have any questions about our party, such as where we stand on national issues as well as questions about volunteering to help or even talking to other members, feel free to fire away. Well, that about covers it. Glad to have you here in Atlasia! See ya around. Remember, feel free to ask questions whenever you want, It's my job to answer those questions for you.

-(Insert your name here)"

What do you guys think?

As I've said before, I'm concerned about the welcoming PM's being tl;dr... I would strongly discourage something like that.

This is a toughy :/

What do you think we should address in the PM, Mr. Vice President?

I think it should be less about information and more about letting people know we have the information and can word it coherently for them.

Many people (I for one knew this first-hand) have questions but are simply too shy to ask in fear of seeming dumb. If one of us approaches them subtley, letting them know we're seasoned Atlasians we can be welcoming without being overbearing.

Dear Mr. Vice President,

Considering recent sudden decision made by the President to severe every contact with me, I believe I have to consider this as my dismissal from this committee.

Sincerely.

I am very sorry to hear that. Sad

It seems I have missed a lot not logging on Saturday.

Getting back to business, I think these PMs should be customized and personalized but we should have some general guidelines to abide by.

Alright. Since there has been a lull, it would seem everyone has come to a consensus.

Unless anybody objects, I say that we merely follow a general rubric/guideline, rather than a specific template. Let's make sure we keep welcoming new registrees.

Unless anybody else has anything to add?
