Governors John Abel Edwards (LA), John Hickenlooper (CO), Terry McAuliffe (VA), and Gina Raimondo (RI) all endorse Perez.

Thanks for posting that Mother Jones article X. I am still supporting Ellison, but I won't be upset if Perez wins. Democrats have two very good choices. Hoping that one of the other 3 candidates (NH Chair, SC Chair, South Bend mayor) running could maybe get convinced to run for Vice Chair.

Do you really feel like you need to bring up a post from November?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Vice President Joe Biden endorses former Labor Secretary Tom Perez to head the Democratic National Committee.

Obviously a biggie

I'm hoping that Ellison wins, not because I feel particularly strongly about him, but because I fear a progressive revolt if they feel like the establishment pulls the rug out from under them again. So long as Ellison is competent for the job, I couldn't care less, I just hope the party leaders don't try and pick fights where they don't need to.

Pretty much my feelings. I like Perez, but he'd do nothing to ease tensions between the factions of the Democratic Party. Unless it's Ellison or Buttigieg, people are going to claim the DNC hasn't learned anything.

Buttigieg isn't really that good, but at least he's not an epic HP like Perez.

Lol

If Perez doesn't win this (and I don't think he will), I hope he runs for Governor in 2018.

Ditto, I think he's the best chance to beat Hogan.

Why exactly should I care about the opinion of a disgraced AG turned who has now entered the private sector, as a lawyer to defend the fraudulent banks that he refused to prosecute?

Disgraced? He's one of the better AG's we've had.

Democrats didn't lose in 2016 because we were "too far left," we lost because more people hated Clinton than Trump in the correct states (MI, PA, WI).

There's a difference between "we need to be unified" and "we need to present an entirely centrist vision of our party". Right now it feels like the only power progressives have is the voting base and not any of the institutions.

This is because progressives are naturally inept at organizing and wielding the reins of power in institutions. It's a very common and universal phenomenon in American politics: the Right organizes, unites and controls; the Left splinters, divides and whines.

Do you have a vote Adam?

SEIU, UAW, AFL-CIO, Teamsters, NEA and United Steelworkers have all endorsed Ellison. Perez becoming DNC chair would be a massive repudiation of labor by the Democrats.

There have been some Labor Unions to endorse Perez, but it is true that the major ones are backing Ellison.

Most of the Senators who supported Hillary in the primary who have endorsed someone in this race have endorsed Keith Ellison. Clearly the other candidates don't have enough support from Senators who endorsed Hillary in the primary. Tongue

Based on endorsements, it really appears that Ellison's base is Congress/DC establishment, while Perez's base seems to be more of the nationwide establishment, particularly Governors.

Am I the only one who likes Perez, Ellison, and Buttigieg, and thinks any of the three would do a fine job?

While I agree it's disappointing that it looks like Ellison or Buttigieg won't win, I think people are overrating the actual power the DNC head has.

I really love all the damn bern bros bitching in the thread that they aren't going to vote Dem if they don't get what they want.  You want to know who is out of touch and who is being a brat, look in the mirror.

Yeah, this thread is getting stupid.

Dismiss "Bernie bros" at your own peril Democrats. It appears that you've learned nothing from 2016.

Dude, I voted for Sanders in the primary and I support Ellison, I still think this thread is stupid.
