You should have "independent" primaries, too, in order to have a democrat, an independent and a republican for the GE.

Obama/Hagel would be a very interesting ticket, BTW.

With an open Convention you, and not the moderator, will have the last word, so I don't see the problem. Spamage has been a great moderator so far (maybe he should post results more frequently), but negotiating who will be the candidates from both parties would be very entertaining ^^.

OOC: Hagel was running a great campaign. McCain posted late and of worse quality not only than Hagel, but than Gingrich and Paul. How come he won that easily?

I'll finish this week and then you can take over, I have too little time to do much else with this although I hate to leave it. Cry

I have final exams in May, but I think I'll have some time for this Smiley Whenever you have time, just tell me you want to be moderator again and it's all yours.

It turns out I can't even finish the results for the one I posted so if you want to you could quote my post and edit from there. Thank you for doing this, for my sake and the players for whom it wasn't fair I was taking so long.

Don't worry, I'll finish that for you.

_______________________________________

PRP poll (next week) will show us how people vote by age, and will release a poll for NC and one other state the candidates vote (primary and GE) among these: MT, IN, SD, OR, PA and KY.
PRP polls. PPP doesn't mention the Obama/Lincoln coalition, so afroamericans in the South (where Obam has supported Lincoln) still prefer to say they support Obama, while soccer mums outside the South are also going for Lincoln even if they know she's supporting Obama in their states.
The results may be somewhat different if compared to the other poll because this has been taken in the states left to vote, because the other poll didn't include Obama in states where Lincoln is running and viceversa, and specially because this poll has far less undecideds.

PRP, a dem. polling company, believes this poll will help candidates define their strategy, what states they should focus on, solve errors and know where/with whom they could improve faster.

We have the other thread to discuss these things. I don't know If there'll be a collapse in the game, tha'd be unfair to McCain and Bloomberg, I believe. I'm still thinking about it...

You have to vote on Idaho Blue Dog Dem entering the race as an independent. Every candidate running (even Goodman) has the right to vote. If you don't want to make your vote public, just PM me, just as Lincoln did.

NEWS OF THE WEEK:

Breaking: senator Casey endorses Obama!

Meanwhile, mayor Michael Nutter of Philadephia makes official his support for Oprah Winfrey after a private meeting. Says he could support Bloomberg if Oprah's not the nominee.

50,000 attended McCain speech in Kansas City, MO. Rumors are that a democrat Congressperson from the Midwest may support him sooner than later.

Howard Dean campaign officers are sure that he will take PA. First voices in the DP start critizing Obama, Lincoln and Winfrey for not dropping out.

The South loves Blanche Lincoln: GE polls to be released this weekend by Rasmussen Report in Georgia and Tennessee reflect that.

Michael Bloomberg endorsed by former Maine Governor Angus King, and by the former Mayor of LA, James Hahn.

April 21th - May 4th starts now

PA Primary: Dean leading, Oprah closing the gap with Obama... Too late, or not?

NYT: "Is Michael Bloomberg the Teddy Roosevelt of the XXI century?"

WSJ: "John McCain campaign the best sice Clinton '92"

Daily-Kos: "Oprah has to make clear whom she prefers: Dean or Obama/Lincoln"

LAT: "Oprah has momentum in PA. May be the big surprise tomorrow"

Senator Jay Rockefeller endorses Howard Dean. "It's obvious he's the choice of the people, just look at the map, he's won TX and NY -and we know the electorate has nothing common in TX and NY-, he's leading Obama by 20 points. He's next to 40% here in the South. And he isn't that pro gun-control, you know. That's always a good way to win over some democrats in my state".

News of the Week:

Obama working his heart out in Pennsylvania. Kennedy and Casey may have convinced some white working class Pennsylvanians. The big question is, who'll take Philadelphia black community? Will they vote for Oprah just like Nutter? Or has Obama won their vote?

John McCain gets the support of MS democratic Congressman Gene Taylor: "He may be a republican, but people in my district love him. He's a true hero, he's the only one who cares for us. Lincoln was the best we could get here, I voted for her, but she doesn't stand a chance. Obama/Lincoln is not a good fit for Mississippi either. Not to talk about Bloomberg. He's just wrong, dangerous for America, and specially for the South. He hates us".

Bloomberg keeps gaining momentum in the Northeast, six democratic mayors and one republican decide to support him in a joint press conference. They are:

John B. Callahan of Bethlehem (D-PA)
Gerald Jennings of Albany (D-NY)
Phil Amicone of Yonkers (R-NY)
Donald Cresitello of Morristown (D-NJ)
James A. Anzaldi of Clifton (D-NJ)
Jerramiah Healy of Jersey City (D-NJ)
Nicholas Mavodones of Portland (D-ME)

Gerald Jennings: "He's a fighter. He may be the mayor of NYC, but he's been working really hard to reduce gun violence all around the US. He's done more for this country than every other candidate".

Jerramiah Healy: "Just read his Wikipedia entry. He was a great businessman and now he's the best mayor NYC has ever had. That means he'll be a great President, don't you think?. As someone who's worked with him in "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" coalition I can say he's also a great leader. You know, I'm a democrat, but Bloomberg deserves my vote. Only Menino would be better than him hahaha...".

Dean campaign staffers sure he'll carry Pennsylvania, worried about Indiana.

OOC: Undecideds tend to break the leader. By now I should have the fundraising advantage and the momentum, and support from both some of the antiwar crowd and the white working class. I convincingly won Ohio, and PA is a state where I'd naturally do better thanks to being more Northeastern. Why am I sinking?

I'll be honest. It's ecause I consider that Obama and Oprah posts have been better. Just look at the last posts and compare! That doesn't mean your posts are bad, of course. You are still leading and winning almost every state.

Polls and endorsements released. Good luck Smiley

Oldies, you didn't update last week, so you spent your first week vacationing. It won't hurt your poll numbers as long as you don't do it again for, at least, some weeks.

When do you want the debate to happen? I have a proposal for you, why doesn't one of the former player serve as moderator in the debates? It would be nice if there were some other people involved in the game. Why not Spamage, Idaho BlueDog Dem or Maxwell? Then they can make up their polls deciding who won the debate, and, obviously, I'd have to keep that in mind for the next update.
What do you think? I believe it'd be the best way to prevent subjectivity on my part.

Oprah and McCain haven't posted anything this week! I'll have an update soon. And they'll lose some momentum, of course. It'll be even worse if they decide not to post haha...

No one wants to moderate the debate? I'll do it if necessary, but I think it'd be better if the moderator was someone else Wink

OOC: people, I'll not release IN and NC results until we have a debate, so, please, be patient. It'll come soon.

John Goodman drops out, doesn't endorse.
McCain still in Hawaii. Too old for national campaigns?

Democrats divided, keeping their base energized... but independents starting to pay attention to Bloomberg:
"They have to decide now, or they'll keep losing support. Why doesn't Oprah, Lincoln or Obama endorse Dean and end of the story? Obama knows he can't win, Lincoln is there for the VP slot and Oprah has said she doesn't like Obama/Lincoln. It's not that difficult, really. Someone should just drop out and endorse Dean. He may not be the best candidate campaigning, and that's why he's underperforming. But one thing is clear: progressives don't like Obama because he decided to 'betray' them and endorse Lincoln in the South; conservatives are a small minority which is't enough for Blanche, and Oprah can't win alone. It's clear Howard is our path to victory" - Jimmy Carter.

"Wow, Florida jewish community has fallen in love with mayor Bloomberg. And now Oregon progressives are thinking about supporting him. Really? I mean, no one expected an independent candidate to receive the support of 15% of the American people at the beginning of may. This' gonna be huge. That's why I want to make this clear: Michael Bloomberg is the President we need"- Pat Choate.

"Oh, people, come on. Barack Obama rocks. Indiana should be in the bag for him" - Latoya Jackson.

OOC: The debate will start soon, and NHI will be the moderator (sorry, Max). Are you OK with him? I hope you are, I think he'll be a great moderator Smiley
