It'll probably morph the way the civil rights movement transitioned after the Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts were passed. I can see DOMA being overturned and gay marriage legalized across America in the next 10 years. After that issue is settled, most GOP politicians will offer lukewarm support of same sex marriage and equal rights. But they will likely be against any further initiatives to promote LGBT rights.
