Why are liberals upset about Jeff Sessions?

Justin Amash expressed concern over this selection, so let's not pretend this is some fake liberal outrage. The man's record is terrible and a Republican controlled Senate rejected him for a judicial appointment.

Sure, he prosecuted the leader of the Klan, because no one in their right mind would have refused to do so in such a horrifying murder case. With that said, that does not mean he doesn't have issues with institutionalized racism. He'd be horrible on voting rights and we could see some regressive policy on that.

Not wanting your kids to go to a school because there are too many Jews there sounds white supremacist to me. And before anyone says "but but but Jews are white", it's important for me to note that white supremacists do not see Jews as white, but as some sort of threat to whites.

Why wouldn't we be upset about an extreme conservative being put in such a position of power? Somehow, I don't think conservatives would love the idea of Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren being put in that post. Also, I highly doubt he'll do wonders for race relations in this country, which are already quite strained.

"Planned Murderhood", "ACLU = communist and un-American"? Really? Tell me again about how the left is so divisive, and demonizes those who disagree.

Yea seriously. I mean, I get it, Trump won. However, while I understand & accept conservatives will take up spots in the administration, Sessions is just too much. He's a racist who has shown clear contempt for the Voting Rights Act and will be a disaster for civil rights in this country. At least put in someone who acknowledges we lock up too many people, not someone who apparently thinks we don't jail enough. And for Trump, who said he wanted to leave marijuana legalization to the states, why nominate someone who is among, if not thee most anti-pot Senators we have?

Oh, I know why. Because Trump wants loyalists.

Sure Sessions has a shaky past on the topic of race but the guy did prosecute members of the Klan though.

Because literally no sane person would have done otherwise in that circumstance.

And he really had no other choice legally.
