I thought you were conservative. Why'd you like Rockefeller?

I am conservative, at least by today's definition of conservatism.  The views I hold now probably would have been considered moderate or even liberal in the 60s.  I would have probably been a huge Rockefeller supporter/fan because he was courageous in his convictions and fought for civil rights.

Rockefeller had convictions?

Yes.  At the 1964 Republican National Convention in San Francisco, when he went to give his speech, he was booed and heckled by the delegates, who were mostly Goldwater supporters.  When they began chanting "We want Barry" over and over again, he shook his head and gave off a scowl.  He was willing to stand against the party's choice of Goldwater because he believed it was wrong.

Well of course it was wrong to him. He hadn't been nominated. Tongue While I'll give credit to certain individuals, liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, who I think stood on principles, I don't typically place Rocky in that group.
