Dress up as a Democrat and go to a black neighborhood. Then see how many people shout at you because of slavery.
Which Democrat?  Clement Vallandigham (the Congressman in the cartoon I recently added to my signature), Stephen Douglas, John Breckenridge, or anybody else from that era in the Democratic Hall of Shame?

John Breckinridge was definitely the scariest-looking of those people.  Go with him.

Also, I think you missed the joke.

John C. Calhoun in his later years looked nuts. Go as him.
