Let's stop attempting to construct some sort of moral framework around hedonism. To whomever may be in one of these "communities": we get it, you wanna have sex with a lotta people. College was fun*. Cool. And, if I'm going to be serious, trying to normalize this stuff will probably have more negative consequences than positive. But it's not even about that: sanctimonious whining about some sort of discrimination against polyamorous people or something is annoying. And, guess what, if that being "deviant" is going to prevent some (literal) wanderlust from having "personal satisfaction", guess what: human happiness--and the individual itself--is an invented phenomenon; our primary goal should be that society do what it does best: function well, not become ossified and brought to a standstill by "fashionable" interests.

*By "college", I refer to the stereotypical undergraduate experience, not to me personally.

That said, if someone could get me an application for a polyamorous community of female "sevens" or above--for primarily academic purposes, of course--I wouldn't be opposed to a weekend jaunt.

I wouldn't be surprised if some prudes also think that things like fetishes are "deviant behavior that destroys the fabric of society." Seriously, who cares what other people do in bed if no one is getting hurt?

Obviously, deviance does not "destroy" society; its occurrence and our subsequent condemnation of it allows us to draw lines by which others may live. Read your Durkheim.

Pointless lines drawn for BS reasons(deviation from the norm doesn't magically make something morally wrong).

Okay...?

I really don't see why people feel the need to use some contrived aberration of morality to legitimize their lifestyles. Pretensions to morality have resulted in some of the most horrific experiments in human slaughter. Just admit that what you're doing debases yourself and move on, people. God knows, we've all made regrettable decisions.
