When you're assigning colors to political parties in text (for legibility etc.), what color scheme do you assign based on ideology?

For me, using the colors on hand, it goes something like this:

Libertarianism, Classical Liberalism, Communitarianism
Corporatism, Authoritarianism, Fascism, Totalitarianism
Social Liberalism, Social Democratism, Christian Democratism
Democratic Socialism, Communism, Anarcho-Syndicalism
Centrism, Neo-Mercantilism, Third Way, Liberal Democratism
Neo-Liberalism, Capitalism, Voluntaryism, Anarcho-Capitalism
Environmentalism, Agrarianism, Eco-Capitalism, Eco-Socialism
Personism, Ecologism, Ecocentrism, Biocentrism, Primitivism
Conservationism, Cornucopianism, Techno or Anthropocentrism
Cultural Pluralism, Multiculturalism, Consociationalism, Feminism
Ethnocentrism, Nationalism, Conservatism, Nativism, Imperialism
Humanism, Humanitarianism, Internationalism, Cosmopolitanism
Realpolitik, Neo-Realism, Militarism, Expansionism, Colonialism

Whichever ideology is most central to the party's identity is used.

Libertarianism, Classical Liberalism, Communitarianism

Are you implying that Libertarianism and Communitarianism are similar?

I am not going to reserve one color simply for variations of right-libertarianism and European liberals. I consider communitarianism the least illiberal and statist pick out of the varied collectivist options. One could try to argue neo-corporatism and some forms of syndicalism are more individualist than communitarianism, but in the end my decisions about where to draw the line between the yellow and brown ideas are always going to be subjective.

Yellow text on a white background is awful, but there are alternatives that work on this forum if you take the time to use them.

That's actually pretty interesting - I'd never tinkered with those features before but they seem to help a lot.

Corporatism, Authoritarianism, Fascism, Totalitarianism

Your US election maps must be boring!

To raise aesthetic quality my color schemes for election maps vary on a situational basis. xD
