Perhaps, but I imagine Souter and Stevens don't retire if a Republican is president.

Probably not until after the 2012 election, at least. And Stevens may be 95 today, but he's still well enough that he was in attendance for today's ruling.

It seems like Bernie Sanders has supported SSM since at least 1972.
