1948

Governor Earl Warren (R-CA)/Former Governor Harold Stassen (R-MN)-309 EV, 58.3% of the popular vote.
Vice President Henry Wallace (D-IA)/Senator Richard Russell Jr. (D-GA)-214 EV, 39.8% of the popular vote.
Senator Strom Thurmond/none-8 EV
Others (Socialist, Labor, Conservative)-1.9% of the popular vote.
President Garners two terms in office are marked by the Second World War. After defeating Nazi Germany in 1945, President Garner orders the US invasion of Japan. The invasion is deadly, but results in victory. During the initial invasion, however, the cities of Osaka, Hiroshima, and Fukushima are destroyed by Atomic Bombs. The following occupation that lasts to 1947 and several thousand more American soldiers will die of radiation poisoning in the mean time.

Vice President Wallace receives heavy opposition in his party. Senators Richard Russell Jr, of Georgia, Harry Truman, of Missouri, and Alban Barkley, of Kentucky, challenge him at the convention. After numerous ballots, Wallace clinches the nomination, but is forced to pick Russell as his running mate. The two will form a bitter relationship, which severely affects the campaign. At the Republican convention, Governor Thomas Dewey is seen as the front runner. But past nominee Wendell Willkie, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Governor Earl Warren, former Governor Harold Stassen, and Senator Robert Taft enter. After three ballots, Warren is nominated, and picks Stassen as his running mate, forming a united, solidly progressive ticket. The election is won by Warren by a wide margin, but South Carolina, in disgust at both nominees, defiantly votes for Strom Thurmond when the Electoral College meets, despite not winning a single vote.

1956

President Joseph Kennedy Jr. (D-MA) / Vice President Barry Goldwater (D-AZ)-318 EV, 44.3% of the popular vote.
Former Vice President Harold Stassen (R-MN)/Senator Richard Nixon (R-CA)-136 EV, 34.7% of the popular vote.
General Dwight Eisenhower (I-PA)/Governor Nelson Rockefeller (I-NY)-77 EV, 19.4% of the popular vote.
Other (Moderate, Labor, American Zionist)-1.6% of the popular vote.

President Kennedy is highly popular, especially after the US victory in the Indian War (1953-1955), in which British and American troops fought back a Chinese supported Communist insurrection in India, despite heavy casualties. The Republican field against him was rather weak, with Vice President Stassen and Governor Nelson Rockefeller the only major candidates. Stassen, who pushed a Progressive and hawkish platform, alienated many moderates and the few Conservatives left in the party. In doing so, they flocked to General Eisenhower, who announced an independent campaign. Eisenhower picked Rockefeller as a running mate, and made the ballot in all 50 states. Kennedy easily was reelected, and Eisenhower announced he would never seek the White House again.

1964

President Nelson Rockefeller (R-NY)/Vice President Henry Cabot Lodge (R-MA)-473 EV, 59.2%
Businessman Harland Sanders (D-KY)/Congressman Walter Judd (D-MT)-65 EV, 39.4% of the popular vote.
Other (Moderate, Labor, Prohibition)-1.4% of the popular vote.

President Rockefellers first term is marked by US withdrawal from India, where American, British, and French troops have been since they put down a Communist uprising in 1955. President Rockefeller also pushed through the Ecology Act of 1961, which created several new regulations on environmental pollution, and Americare in 1962, which created guaranteed health insurance for all American citizens over 70. In 1963, the controversial Civil Rights Act and the Public Utilities Act, which gave government subsidies for citizens’ water, heating, and electric bills. These changes were lambasted by Conservatives in the Democratic Party, and even some moderates in the Republican Party. Celebrity Businessman, Harland “Colonel” Sanders announced a bid for the Democratic nomination. Big names, like Senator John Kennedy (brother of former president Joseph Kennedy), and Governor George Wallace refused to run, leaving the nomination open. Sanders won the nomination handily. The Republicans renominated Rockefeller and Lodge, and they won by a landslide.

1972

President John Kennedy (D-MA)/Vice President John Eisenhower (D-CO)-494 EV, 62.5% of the popular vote.
Senator George McGovern (R-SD)/Senator Eugene McCarthy (R-MN)-44 EV, 34.9% of the popular vote.
Other (States Rights, New Left, Prohibition)-2.6% of the popular vote.

In 1968, John Kennedy, the brother of former President Joe Kennedy is elected President. During his term, he governs as a moderate, refusing to gut the popular social programs of the Rockefeller administration. He remains popular with the Conservatives who make up the Democratic Party, however, by passing numerous Conservative pieces of legislation. In 1970, the 27th amendment, which defined marriage as between one man and one woman (the Rockefeller administration was lenient towards gay marriage and had the States Rights Act of 1965, which allowed states to make their own marriage laws. Vermont and Hawaii were the only states to legalize gay marriage, in 1966 and 1968 respectively), and the Kennedy Tax Cuts of 1971. In January of 1972, the US landed a man on the moon. Kennedy was renominated unanimously at the Democratic National Convention. The Republican Party establishment supported former Vice President Harold Stassen in his final bid for the Republican nomination; however, youth voters supported Senator McGovern in droves, and despite all odds, he won the nomination. Kennedy would crush McGovern in a landslide. In Massachusetts, President Kennedy’s younger brother, Robert, was elected to the Senate, sparking Presidential speculation for 1976….

@Chairmansanchez

I recommend you adjust the popular vote shades to levels that this election would have instead of OTL's, or to use tge option if getting rid of the shades completely.
I always forget that. Thanks for the reminder Smiley

1996

Former House Speaker Edward Kennedy (D-MA)/Governor Newt Gingrich (D-PA)-281 EV, 49.9% of the popular vote.
President Donald Rumsfeld (R-IL)/Senator Tom Harkin (R-IA)-257 EV, 48.6% of the popular vote.
Other (Liberal, Libertarian, Ecology)-1.5% of the popular vote.

President Rumsfeld term in office remains one of the most divisive in history. In 1993, Islamic radicals attack Chicago’s grant park, shooting to death 26 people, and injuring over 200, before being killed by police. The President announced the “National Security Act of 1993”, which granted extensive powers to the President to fight terrorism. In mid 1995, wiretaps are discovered in several reporters from various newspapers phones. The White House claims to have had no involvement, but investigations quickly lead to FBI involvement. FBI head William Sessions is forced to resign, and is subpoenaed by a Senate committee. He reveals that the offices of the journalist were bugged to see what they knew of what would become “Panama Gate”. The “Panama Gate” scandal breaks across the nation, with millions learning that ever since RFK was President, the CIA and FBI had been using foreign aid money meant to help civilians prop up a rebel group fighting the socialistic Ecuadorian government. The group was also revealed to be a major drug trafficing organization. While the House overwhelmingly vote against impeachment, the scandal ruins Rumsfeld’s presidency.

Wow, a full-on Kennedy dynasty in this one. Smiley
The only differance is that they are center right, not center left Smiley The parties are switched, the GOP being Progressive, and slightly Neocon, and the Democrats being center-right, though they too are interventionalist.
