OK, so I made a sexist joke about BeccaM that was over the line. The joke was that women are viewed as nagging and unintelligent. Was it on Daniel Tosh levels? I don't think so, but since so many of you, including some friends of mine, took me seriously (for once), I am offering a semi serious apology.

I posted this straight to the deluge to make your jobs easier.

The problem is not a matter of taking you seriously or not, it's that you made a joke like that in the first place.
Dude, it’s a joke. Get over the phony feminism, it’s quite annoying. It didn't mean anything. For that matter, reread my joke. It wasn’t even a complete joke as I never said all women were like BeccaM; just that I don’t want any women IF they were all like her.

Do you post anything other than insulting memes to avoid making any serious points?
And do you just post anything that is not parroting what the others say?

No I don't, because drj said what I would have said. You've made your point, you admitted your blunder, you should drop it. You're not doing yourself any favours by continuing to argue for yourself.
If I have admitted my blunder, what business do you have continually attacking it and the "attitudes" behind it if you do not want to debate me on my premises? Your engaging in a “10 Minute Hate” straight out of Oceania, and its rather bizarre.

Yes, when I'm talking with someone who can actually make coherent and legitimate arguments.
Is my argument incoherent? Or are you incapable of understanding anyone who disagrees with you, on account of your extreme egomania? If you want to play the personal insult game, I am willing to fight fire with fire to drive my point home to you.

¿I didn't attack you though? ¿I just pointed out why your joke wasn't funny and that you making it in the first place wasn't cool? ¿You then preceded to get really defensive and insult me?

I don't think you get that by calling my joke "uncool" was an attack on my premises, while a simple "that wasn't funny" would have driven the point home without challenging me to stand up. Then Kitteh joined in, and made it personal. I am not saying it is Kitteh’s or your fault-it is my fault, for making the rude joke to begin with. But don't you ever think that I am going to be bullied into submission simply because you disapprove for superfluous reasons.

I’m willing to admit that this was a clever use of an internet meme to drive your point home, as well as making me chuckle and realize the emotionalism that I injected into the original post. That’s a rarity.

I feel like we've been having this anniversary since I was old enough to know who JFK was. I was once reading the 1992 TIME Magazine cover of Bill Clinton as Person of the Year and one of the articles started off by comparing him to JFK. In elementary school I had a teacher who told us that "where were you when JFK was shot" used to be a big thing. In high school my English teacher told us about how she'd cried after the 1960 debates cause she thought JFK was going to lose. When my parents first came to America we rented a room from a kind elderly couple and I remember the lady saying JFK was her favorite president. One of Michael Moores movies begins by harkening back to the JFK inauguration. I think its a generational thing. When he died, I think, a whole generation lost its innocence. America lost its innocence. It had to be a conspiracy. Hasnt anyone seen the Oliver Stone movie?
I think this is satirical. Or at least I hope it is.

Uh, he nearly caused WWIII. He was a scumbag who philandered across Europe while my poor grandma lived off of a can of ravioli per day in her one room apartment shared with her mother and another family.

Huh
How is this absurd? It was during the depression, not his presidency, if that is where you need clarification.

Are you some kind of Snowstalker-type who hates the wealthy on principle now?
No, I hate how progressives froth at the mouth over him though. The Kennedy's have been spitting on the poor since they left their ranks.

Don't get me wrong, I think rich people should do as they please with their wealth. I just don't think they should implement policies that target their own wealth, unless they themselves are willing to go full on St. Francis of Assisi.

Its bad that I think JFK is a horrible, horrible person? If you put political positions that you don't like in this thread, it kinda cheapens the whole thing. But I digress; my point is rather..well...pointless.

It has nothing to do with politics. Just a strange, awful anecdotal dichotomy.
Granted its a bad comparison; I just didn't feel like posting "he cheated on his wife" to prove the point, as it is rather obvious.

Just for the record, the shooter was not a TSA employee, just a nutjob (and probable NRA member) who railed against "fiat currency" and the "NWO" and of course saw the TSA as perfect embodiment of that.

Marijuana obviously. It actually has a purpose and is basically harmless, unlike tobacco, which is disgusting, harmful and absolutely useless.

Going back to the JFK kerfuffle:

Max, I understand your grandma's predicament during JFK's presidency, but to be frank...there are other ways of viewing a Presidency. My grandmother is currently living on foodstamps and medicare, and that does not greatly alter my view of Obama. Granted, I dislike Obama to begin with, but the fact that my grandmother is not financially stable is not the President's fault. JFK prevented WWIII, he didn't cause it. His willingness to approach the Cuban Missile Crisis in the diplomatic fashion that he did ultimately spared the world of a global conflict. Did he nearly drop the ball on it? Sure. But you can't say Nixon would have handled it better, and I'd go far enough to say that a Nixon presidency in 1960 would have caused WWIII without a doubt. JFK was President for just under 3 years, so he didn't have the opportunity to enact a full-scale plan to increase the United States' economic standing. TLDR, you cannot blame JFK for your grandmother's unfortunate situation, just like I can't blame Obama for my grandmother's unfortunate situation. You have to look at the presidency as a whole, and JFK did more good than harm in the short time he was President.
I'm not judging his presidency on my grandmothers circumstances. Just making a comparision that I find amusing. I have plenty of reasons why I think Kennedy was a horrible President; in fact, I am writing an English paper on the subject that is coming up due soon.

This ain't the place to debate Kennedy, but I am a Nixon buff and I am quite sure that he would have handled everything better, as vile and disgusting as he was.

Anyway, here is a gem from BRTD. I'm not ant-pot, I just despise BRTD's logic.

Yes.

Only people who don't know how money works thinks the budget should be balanced.

In fact, theoretically, the budget never has to be balanced if the deficit is brought within the rate of inflation and thus the debt contained to a fixed percentage of GDP.
It’s not so much the literal balancing of the budget as much as Lief's general revulsion at fiscal constraint.
