I was present at the townhall where Allen West and the guy from CAIR got into it. I cringed when the crowd booed him as soon as he mentioned he was the CAIR director from South Florida, even if his question towards West was nothing short of troll-baiting.

Butthurt blue avatars are butthurt.

If you don't like being associated with islamophobic bigotry, then maybe you should leave the islamophobic party.
And what conservative party are we supposed to join? Just because Allen West is an islamophobe doesn't make his party islamophobic, just like Strauss-Kahn being a rapist does not make the French Socialist Party remotely pro-rape. What a ridiculous claim.

But as these articles demonstrate, it goes far beyond Allen West and other fringe actors.

It is imperative reasonable conservatives and Republicans fight such foolishness from the inside, not coddle it out of political expediency.
The Texas GOP has always been and always will be filled with these people. What bothers me is Reince Preibus and the rest of the RNC are still worshipping the base, which is dying more and more by the day. Common sense dictates that the base will vote for Hillary if the GOP nominates her. Where were the third party “True Conservative” campaigns when we nominated McCain and Romney, who they were not partial to in the least bit? It’s like their running after a carrot dangling from a stick attached to their head.

This party could be much better off right now if we started changing things, but it is going to take Rand Paul a presidential run or two before the state parties fall into the right hands. Thankfully, a vast majority of the young Republicans I know are either moderate or Paulite, and a healthy combination of both will make the GOP competitive again. All the “The GOP is Dead!” threads from the likes of Dr. Scholl are partially true in the short term, and the real question the RNC needs to be asking is how long do we want the short term to last?
