No. Hanging should be brought back. The guillotine, quite apart from its unfortunate connotations, is just so... French.
I am on the fence about the death penalty, but I do support bringing the public hanging back. It will either deter crime or shock people in supporting the abolition of capital punishment. As I change my tune on this issue every other week, I'd be satisfied with either result.

why can't we let the condemned choose his own method?  I'd ask to be loaded up on benzos and opiates and dropped from a commercial airline at 30000 feet.
