Agreed. After the 2000 primary McCain should have told Bush to go $%$ himself in 2004.
The man has no actual core beliefs that serve to guide him. He is much like Clinton in that regard.
I never liked Paul Wellstone's politics, but I always respected him as a person because he genuinely believed in his ideas. Sure he would compromise to try and get things done, but never on some of his central, core ideas.
