Trump supporters are like the jock bullies in high school and the main crowd who fed their popularity.  If Trump wins, it means the bullies and popular kids are emboldened in their bullying, and the geeks, nerds, artistic types, and general freaks like me will be shoved into lockers.

But this is the way the world works.  The jocks usually win the popularity contests.

That would be the least of our troubles if Trump wins. We would also have to deal with Trump presidency - something infinitely worse than any amount of gloating by our deplorable friends.

The thing I fear is that every loathsome thing Trump says or does will be met with cheering and raucous applause by these deplorables.

Of course they'll be insufferable regardless - they're already insufferable. But I fear they'll be far worse than that. I don't mean your conventional Republicans, who will share the blame for casting their vote for this man and enabled his rise to power. But his base of supporters are fanatical and he will surround himself with these people. His mere winning of the election will empower the worst elements of our society to think they've taken "their" country back, so it'll be open season on minorities and liberals. Not necessarily murder or violence in most instances, but definitely harassment and intimidation.

Ultimately, Trump's presidency will be met with a level of opposition from the Left which would at least rival what Obama has experienced from the Right. There is no reason to compromise, negotiate, or even listen to their side. They are disgusting, deplorable people who'd be more than happy to deny most of us a seat at the table because of our sex, race, immigration status, religion, or sexuality. Hate cannot be tolerated - ever. Not from our friends, family, neighbors, or, especially, from our political leaders.

Not only that, but look what he'll do to our country's reputation and alliances. He'd happily violate the Geneva Convention, try to outright steal the natural resources of other countries (Iraq and its oil), try to discriminate against immigrants and refugees based on their religion or nationality, practically destroy NATO, alienate our Western allies, piss off our Muslim allies and embolden Islamist groups, ally us with Russia, ignite trade wars, and basically end our right to promote democracy and humanitarian values around the world. Domestically, there will be no furthering of the rights of minority groups, curtailing of protections for the historically marginalized, targeting of political opponents (even within his own party), destruction of environmental regulations, suspension of all global warming and green energy initiatives, elimination of national education standards, tax cuts that'll dramatically raise the deficit, and so much more atrocious nonsense that we simply don't need. If anyone thinks our country is polarized now, just you wait. It will get so, so much worse.
Being a Trump opponenr could be like being brown/black in the 50s. I'll bet employers will start to do background checks on your political affiliation and a lot of other things that are very illegal right now.

A Trump victory may convince me to take a job at Salesforce, even if it means a cut in salary.   They pushed back bigly on RFRA, and they will stand up to President Trump's BS.

Salesforce has been courting me for months.
