Recidivism is often less about being a "hardened" criminal and more about the fact that once you've been in prison, respectable society is closed off to you even if you want to be part of it. No one hires ex-cons except for the really undesirable jobs. Faced with the choice of washing cars or going back to selling drugs, it's obvious a lot of people will take the 2nd option and hope they don't get caught again.

Not surprising. Religion is pox on humanity and a frequent shelter for hateful behavior.

Always seem to be on the winning side only on issues I don't really care about.

Welcome to the left.

An hardliner. A left-winger could say they are dry because all compassion dried up and became paw[n]s for expanding neoliberalism and destroy the social net, but it would be a bit exagerated.

Should be invaded, like all tax havens.

lol ironic, as it's usually right-wing morons recommending futile boycotts [insert 'power of the consumer' horsesh**t] as the alternative to any and all proposals for state regulation or appealing to the lack of it as proof there's no public disgruntlement with whatever example of corporate piss-taking is happening at the time.
