This amendment provides us with a recognition of the social rights first expanded upon in FDR's Second Bill of Rights speech. I'm going to go ahead and offer an amendment here to make the whole thing a little bit more legible and work out some of the kinks Tongue

Yes, I'd still like to see that amendment, but can I see the current text of the amendment before we go forward with a vote?

I don't want to shut off the possibility of community service or service to a victim as restitution for a crime, so making all involuntary servitude as punishment unconstitutional might be a bad idea.

Oh, hadn't even thought about those as being forms of involuntary servitude. Tongue I'm comfortable striking that part out, then.

I suppose leaving it out for now is fine, given that the last time we tried to ban life imprisonment without parole, it went down in flames.

I am hessitant to fail this. I like the middle section and the bottom portion.

But on the flip side I do support capital punishment and am hessitant to remove it from the military.

Is there any particular benefit to retaining it specifically in the military?

Nope.
