The exception for tipped employees was removed by previous legislation.

Aye

This is a decent compromise amendment. Workers get a wage increase and tipped employment gets done away with.

No, Interns were exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act of 2013.

Its one of the better amendments so far I would say on this bill. However, I am still deeply concerned with the direction that this has taken on some aspects.

Companies don't "need" to employ unpaid labor. No worker should be subject to slavery in order to get a job in the future.

Internships are jobs, so I feel that more money should naturally be dispensed to the employee in this case.

I object.

This is carving out a gigantic hole when this bill should fundamentally be about closing those holes and guaranteeing that everyone who works is paid for it.

I object to the proposed amendment.

Why should workers have to wait? They're already slaving away at substandard wages while the corporate pigs who employ them rake in record profits.
