Ideally, I'd vote for a socialist candidate running, if one were in my riding, regardless of which particular sect they belong to. Ideally, I'd want to cast my ballot for someone who has views closest to mine (and would if there were multiple lefties running in one riding), but if that isn't realistic, I'd choose the socialist group most committed to building a unified socialist party. If there's not a group dedicated to doing that, I'd go for whichever sect is running a candidate. And if that's not a possibility, I'd consider voting for a Green who openly refers to himself or herself as a socialist, or a Labourite who does the same and has shown enough independence in that regard not to back the New Labour agenda.

And, if none of those options were there, I would not vote.
