The horrible ref from Italy vs. Uruguay has been chosen for Brazil vs. Germany. The fix is in.

Lief might end up regretting all of those jokes about how Suarez didn't deserve punishment...

Well, if he likes Uruguay, odds are he hates Brazil.

The point is that he can be easily influenced to make horrible calls. I wonder who that will favor...

Germany's first match after the World Cup? A September Friendly against Argentina. You just know they're going to meet in the Final now.

Can't be real. Germany's last competitive loss was to Italy, by the way. Wink

That was so beautiful. Germany peaking at exactly the right time (for once).

Remember the last time you guys romped to victory in the World Cup knockout stage? 1-0 loss in the next match. Wink

This is officially Brazil's largest margin of defeat.

You could post footage of the match on Pornhub under hardcore punishment.

The Twitters reported that people have already posted it there.

I want Argentina to win because they so manifestly don't deserve to win.

I have respect for those that want Argentina to win because they like Argentina. I also have a weird respect for those like Phil that support Argentina just to be spiteful. I don't have any respect for your position.

Huh? It's not just Anti Germany; it's Pro Italy. Wink

Seriously though, Italians and Italy fans obviously have more connections to Argentina. Plus, I'm a Napoli fan. There are very strong historic and current connections with Argentina.

Makes sense, although I imagine an Italy supporter will be more interested in remaining the only 4-star nation rather than any direct or indirect ties to Argentina Wink

Sure but, again, it's because we're focused on Italy, not dwelling on our enemy. It's all about how you frame the argument.  Wink

But many Napoli fans would actually be more interested in Argentina doing well than simply keeping Italy as the only four star nation.

Italian Nicola Rizzoli will referee the Final. Forza Italia!

Wow, I didn't think FIFA would be so blatant. Congratulations Argentina.

Hahaha Wink

And just a reminder (Italy's feelings about Argentines and Germans in general aside, Serie A representation in both squads:

Germany: 2
Argentina: 7

...that's because the Germans play in the much better Bundesliga.

...ok? The point was Rizzoli will be way more acquainted with Argentina's players. Where the Germans play (which I obviously knew) has nothing to do with the point.

Not sure if this stat has been thrown out there: Germany have made the Final of a major tournament every six years since 1990.

'90 - win
'96 - win
'02 - loss
'08 - loss
'14 - ?

Germany are a total mess.

Italy and Germany are pretty good friends AFAIK. Sure there's a rivalry, but it's not a nasty one - and besides, Italy always wins, so we have no reason to hold a grudge. Tongue

Italians do not root for Germany. Like ever.
