why was Tom Corbett so hated?

Comb through the PA thread. Some of us posted it enough times. 

When people hear so and so is unpopular, they begin to believe it. Corbett got the negative end of that stick compared to other republicans who did similar things yet won.

And letting the opposition define you as early and often as they did was fatal. And when he did respond, people didn't see it as endearing, Christie-esque straight talk.

He was produced solely and exclusively by the political climate in 2010. He set out to 1) completely destroy the public sector (and this is not a state wherein you want to try to do that), 2) his social views are conservative by rural southern standards, and 3) his anti-education views turned off conservative people. If it had not been for such a GOP friendly cycle, he would have easily lost 60-40. I don't know who voted for him. It's anecdotal, but there are some very, very GOP people I know who voted Wolf.

Exclusively because of the 2010 climate? The guy won tough statewide races in 2004 and 2008. He didn't just fall into the Governorship.
