How did they want him to go down in flames? If anything, they wanted Hillary stopped during the primary. McCain winning the nomination proves they aren't as relevant anymore, not the Democratic nomination battle.

They generally withheld their endorsements (on the GOP side) until fairly late in the process

We all know they wanted Romney.

Sure, after the others dropped out.  By then, the race was McCain's to lose.

I always sensed that people like Hannity and Rush were all over Romney from the very beginning.

Sure, after the others dropped out.  By then, the race was McCain's to lose.

I always sensed that people like Hannity and Rush were all over Romney from the very beginning.

Hanity was all over Giuliani when he was in the race. Rudy would come on his show all the time while Sean drooled over him and went over his accomplishments, while he brushed his liberal social views under the rug.

Oh, believe me, I know. Maybe he wasn't set on Romney but he and Rudy were clearly Hannity's guys.
