Gustaf, I am going to try to learn either Norwegian or Swedish. I know the two languages are very similar. Which is easier in your opinion?
Hm...I will try and not be the least bit biased...
I honestly don't know. Norwegian was less influenced by French than Swedish, but I'm not sure how much of an advantage that is considering the mixed heritage of English.
On the other hand Norwegian has undergone a major spelling reform, severing its ties to all related languages. That would make Swedish a little easier to learn. You also have the fact that there are 2 Norwegian languages. Swedish is also a bigger language than Norwegian.
Don't know if this was biased, but writing it up I started to lean towards recommending you to study Swedish. Also, you would hten be able to talk Swedish with me, of course....
