I appreciate the Governor giving me the opportunity to serve yet another one-week stint in an Atlasian office, and will ensure the gears of government keep on moving.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm sure I'll enjoy being a NE Rep/Caretaker again.

It was also communicated to me that I wouldn't have to run for my seat because it was close enough to the end of the term that there wouldn't be a special election. I suppose it's my fault - NE election law changes so much that I haven't bothered looking at it in ages.

If that's true, then why is there an election in the first place?  Was the first vacancy created by Libertas' banning before the cut-off date for an appointment holding over until February, while Winfield's resignation came after the cut-off?

I believe it happened in reverse order, but they were both remarkably close to one another. Nothing really makes sense to me here. I think there's just a general lack of knowledge across the board about current election statute in the Northeast. This is why I voted against yet another election law change regarding appointments to the Assembly, but it appears to be headed for passage anyway. In some cases (like whether or not we handle vacancies via appointment or special election), we've went back and forth and even back again over the span of the past year.
